South County was hit with about a half inch of rainfall today, Thursday, and there is more to come, according to forecaster Bob Benjamin of the National Weather Service.
Gilroy experienced slightly more rain at .49 inches, while Morgan Hill was dumped with .47 inches from the storm system that has passed through the area and is moving on to the southeast.
The NWS is forecasting a bigger storm system to hit South County between late Friday night and early Saturday morning. Benjamin said there will be periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, but mostly light rain until early Monday morning. This storm is expected to drop between 1 to 2 inches of rain during that time, Benjamin said.
There will also be some residual light sprinkles throughout South County today.
