In his first start of the season for the Rams, Kevin Medeiros pitched a complete game for the win after a rough four-run first inning.
Gavilan received some good offensive performances at the plate, with the biggest hit of the game coming from outfielder Jacob Boys, who cleared loaded bases with a double in the fourth inning to give the Rams their first lead of the game at 6-5. Gavilan then posted three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to provide breathing room entering the ninth.
The Rams had 15 hits to the Seahawks’ 12.
“After couple of defensive miscues in the first inning we held it together well in the following frame,” Gavilan coach Neal Andrade said. “The team is still fighting to compete knowing that the season is coming to an end shortly. With a young group it is important to finish the season on a positive note with many of them coming back for their sophomore seasons.”
Entering Thursday’s 2 p.m. contest against Monterey Peninsula College, the Rams now have a 9-21 record overall, 3-15 in the Coast Conference – South. The team will head to San Jose on Saturday for a game at noon against West Valley.
