San Jose based-Real Action Paintball Inc. is moving down U.S. 101 and setting up its manufacturing operation at 7700 Arroyo Circle in Gilroy. The company closed the deal on the 40,000-square foot building in mid-May, according to Tammy Brownlow, president of the Gilroy Economic Development Corporation.
It will take a few months to fully transition Real Action Paintball Inc. into Gilroy.
“We’re very excited,” said Mike Rodriguez, east coast sales coordinator for RAP4, the other name the company goes by.
According to their website, RAP4 is a manufacturer and distributor of military, law enforcement and gaming (paintball) equipment with more than 5,000 products in stock and many more online. At the company’s present 25,000-square-foot location in San Jose, visitors are able to watch demonstrations and get up close and personal with a wide variety of custom products and tactical equipment. That approach is going to be continued in Gilroy.
“We’re expecting to have a larger showroom to display a lot of our products,” said Rodriguez.
A major factor in RAP4’s decision, according to Brownlow, is Arroyo Circle’s proximity to U.S. 101 and the tens of thousands of cars that pass by there every day.
“It’s good for name recognition,” she said.
At present, RAP4 employs roughly 20 people and all of them will be making the commute from San Jose every day, but as the company expands its operations Rodriguez expects more job openings become available.
“We’ll be looking for talented people,” he added.
