Dear Editor,

Although Dennis Taylor is not in town to receive my response, I still feel compelled to give it.

I would like to thank Mr. Taylor for comparing me to Jesus Christ as well as to Dr. James Dobson. Pretty good company if you ask me.

Following the example of the aforementioned, although the temptation to do so is overwhelming, I will heed their teachings and not strike back in kind. I will attempt to show some class while Dennis and Wayne Scott try to reshape society in the image of Howard Stern and Al Franken.

Somehow, these misguided malcontents seem to think that turning all vestiges of “old-fashioned” morality on its head will somehow improve society.

It is my sincere hope that the Gilroy Unified School District will voluntarily enforce board policy and send a strong message to the one-third of high school teachers who are acting like immature adults and are rebelling against policies that were crafted by our elected representatives.

Perhaps it is time that these teachers grow up, and then perhaps those students who are not quite cutting it will have a good example of how one behaves and contributes in society. I also hope we can revisit the teacher contracts before the next negotiation to insure that standards for professional conduct are addressed thoroughly.

Perhaps this and others measures will reign in teachers who have forgotten that they are taxpayer paid public servants, not freewheeling ideologues.
