Good, Bad & Ugly moved into sole possession of first place at 2-0 in the inaugural Winter Softball League Tuesday at Las Animas Park with a 32-13 victory over VFW Bingo.
Donny Gooding homered and scored five runs for the league leader. Mario Razo homered and Eddie Adame slapped four hits for the winners. Josh Dias drove in three VFW Bingo runs with a home run and double. Stephen Jeske homered and Adam Kirkpatrick tripled and doubled for VFW Bingo.
The Loco Boys (1-0) topped the Players-HD Auto Glass 17-2 as Johnny Bueno and Elias Madrid each produced three hits. Danny Granados homered and Rob Flores went 2-for-2 with one run scored for the Players.
Those Guys (1-0) defeated Trevino Brothers Construction 9-5 as Johnny Andrade went 4-for-4 and Chris Wong and Marc Vegas each went 3-for-3. Robert Silvis hit a two-run home run and Dom Hernandez, Matt Corona and Bubba Castaneda each added two hits and scored a Trevino Brothers run.
In Men’s Basketball League play Wednesday at Solorsano Gym, Hard Ninety improved to 2-0 with a 71-32 victory over the Spartans.
Eric Smith dropped in five 3-point field goals in a 17-point outburst in the second half for the winners. Smith finished with 19 points, and Frank Tomasetti had 18 for Hard Ninety. Jason Ramirez and Jesse Ramirez each contributed eight points to the Spartans cause.
Jason Wolowitz struck for 18 points as Free Range Laphog edged the Hawks 45-39 to leave both clubs at 1-1.
Nick Langone posted nine points for the Laphog. Hans Mendozona came off the bench to throw in 20 second-half points for the Hawks.
Justin Nicholson’s overtime free throw helped District 5 by Recology 50-49.
Nicholson sped to 26 points, Tucker Baksa 11 for the winners (1-1). Donny Gooding worked inside for 12 points for Recology (1-1). Brad Pluckhan scored 10 second-half points for Recology. Romeo Travis helped with nine Recology points. District 5 held a 26-19 lead at halftime
