Roberto R. “Bobby” Domanski, 67, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Harlingen Medical Center.
He was a native of El Ranchito, Texas, and lived for 20 years in Gilroy, where he was employed by Gilroy Foods, Inc. prior to returning to El Ranchito in 1987.
Mr. Domanski was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a recipient of the Soldiers Medal, which is the highest military honor a soldier can receive during peace-time. He was very actively involved in the different veterans organizations in the South Texas area. His parents, Robert and Francisca Domanski, and a sister, Dolores Domanski Halpin, preceded him in death.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Maria C. Domanski; six sons, Bobby (Alice), Raymond (Rosa), Rick, Rolando (Sandy), Israel, and Ruben Domanski; three daughters, Rosie Domanski, Roxanne (Steve) Domanski Taylor, and Nenetzin Domanski; one sister, Frances Domanski; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Visitation was Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at San Ignacio Church in El Ranchito. Full military honors followed at Jose Esparza Park in El Ranchito, conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Veterans Honor Guard.
