Dear Editor,

The Gilroy High School Mustang football teams have finished double-day practices in anticipation of our first scrimmage on our beautiful new field Friday! I am ready for another exciting season of hometown football! The players are pumped and ready to play after a week of at camp testing their skills. Here’s to a successful, injury-free season.

As an an active member of the Quarterback Club – parents who volunteer to raise funds – I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all those who helped me at the Garlic Festival and the fireworks booth. Without you this club could not exist.

We are getting our merchandise ready to sell at the games and plan on putting together a football program at each home game, besides working the snack bar and parking lot. We’ll also be feeding all the players before each game so they are prepared to go out and have the energy to win!

We need help. Our first scrimmage will be with three other schools. Our plans are to BBQ, open the snack bar and sell merchandise. We would like to see new faces. You can volunteer before or after your son plays. We need to get the freshman and JV parents more involved. If you could just help during one game, it would be a tremendous help.

We have monthly meetings in Coach Darren Yafai’s room every second Monday at 7pm. It takes many parents to succeed, please let’s be successful!! Feel free to call me at 842-1240 or e-mail me at je********@ya***.com. Go Mustangs!

Lori Jeske, Gilroy
