Maria ‘Lupe’ Lopez

Maria “Lupe” Lopez is Gavilan College’s Employee of the Month for May. Lupe is an instructional program specialist in the Business Skills Center and has been with the district since September 2000.

Lupe is the quiet one in the business building, but she is instrumental in assisting all students in the Business Skills Center. Her work ethic is outstanding: She is dedicated, dependable and always ready to assist others.

Joelle Jenkins

Joelle H. Jenkins, of Morgan Hill, received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Clark University on May 22.

Allen Cooper

Dordt College awarded Allen Cooper, of Gilroy, with a Presidential scholarship. Cooper has been accepted to Dordt as an incoming freshman.

Dordt College is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed faith. In the 2010 U.S. News & World Report rankings, Dordt College ranked fourth among Midwest Baccalaureate Colleges and eighth on the “Great Schools, Great Prices” list, which compares tuition price with the quality of the program.

Steven Good

Steven Good received a master’s degree from the American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater School Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. In addition to his studies at Harvard, he lived in Moscow for three months, training at the famous Moscow Art Theater School and performing a three-month run of “Alice vs. Wonderland.” During his time at Harvard he acted and sang in several professional productions including the Serg Tankien scored new musical “Prometheus Bound” and a hit pre-Broadway workshop run of a new musical based on the film “Once.” He has signed with an acting agency in L.A. and plans to re-locate there.

Steven is the son of Mark and Pat Good of Gilroy.

James Lafuente

James Lafuente, of Gilroy, was named to the Culver-Stockton College Dean’s List for the spring 2011 semester. To be named to an honors list, Culver-Stockton College requires students to meet high academic standards. President’s List students have earned a 4.0 GPA and were enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours.

Culver-Stockton College is a private, liberal arts college located in Canton, Mo.

Maximus Mikel Martinez

Maximus Mikel Martinez was born June 4, 2011 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital to Marisa Fowler and Jason Martinez of Gilroy. He weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces.
