Police Blotter: Recent arrests made in Gilroy and Morgan Hill

Sheriff’s arrests

Under the influence of a controlled substance

Michael John Garza, 26, and Teresa Zabala, 25, both of Gilroy, 3:05 a.m. Monday, near Monterey Road and Welburn Avenue.

Darrin Peter Frank, 37, of Gilroy, 10:50 a.m. Friday, on the 9700 block of New Avenue.

Public intoxication

Marc Anthony Tognietti, 38, of Gilroy, 12:40 a.m. Thursday, near Dowdy and Fourth streets for public intoxication and resisting arrest after deputies pulled over the vehicle he was riding in and he fled immediately.

Assault

Aracely Bernardino, 20, of Gilroy, 1:20 p.m. Oct. 6, on the 9400 block of Kern Avenue for assault and vandalism after throwing a cup of cold coffee at a woman and damaging a copy machine.

Other sheriff’s incidents

Grand theft

A red and black BMX bicycle with 20-inch wheels worth $1,500 was stolen from the front porch of a residence on the 13400 block of Ann Marie Court in San Martin, between 6 and 9 a.m. Saturday.

About 140 feet of copper wire worth $1,000 that was attached to a well pump was stolen from a farm near Richmond Avenue and Monterey Road in Morgan Hill, between 3 p.m. Sept. 23 and 3 p.m. Sept. 30. The $5,000 well was also damaged beyond repair.

Recovered stolen vehicle

A 1991 green Ford Explorer stolen out of San Jose was found partially stripped of its engine parts and stereo near San Bruno Avenue and Manfre Road in Morgan Hill, 8:15 a.m. Friday.

Petty theft

A backpack and small suitcase containing children’s clothing worth about $110 were stolen from an unlocked 2003 blue Honda Element on the 19600 block of Dougherty Avenue in Morgan Hill, between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Burglary

Two horse saddles were stolen from a farm on the 9400 block of Marcella Avenue, between 6 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7:52 p.m. Oct. 7.

A purse and wallet containing a Sears credit card and $300 in cash were stolen from an unlocked residence on the 300 block of Chester Avenue in San Martin, between 4:30 p.m. Oct. 2 and 11:10 a.m. Oct. 6.

Identity theft

Police believe a 46-year-old Napa man used a Morgan Hill man’s personal information to fill out an application to start a corporation, between 8 a.m. Aug. 14 and 8 a.m. Aug. 15.

Reckless driving

Tamara Leigh Plaza, 37, of Gilroy, is wanted for evading a police officer and reckless driving after police tried to pull her red Chevrolet Tahoe over near Monterey Road and Pierce Street and she sped off over a median, 1:43 a.m. Friday.
