DEAR EDITOR:
I was appalled by your front-page picture and coverage of the tragic accident Monday, Dec. 29.
You intruded upon this poor family at the most devastating time of their lives, the loss of their child. Of all the times that people need privacy, your reporter and photographer were in this family’s face.
Is the news business so slow that a fatal accident photo has to be placed so prominently on the front page with all the gory details? Shame on you!

EDITOR’S NOTE: Our chief photographer took the photographs from afar and was in no way “in this family’s face.” We do document the tragedies in our small town, as well as the triumphs, and in difficult situations such as this accident, our aim is to be compassionate while reporting the news.
