For those who love to exercise their brains with puzzles, the Silicon Valley Puzzle Fest is just the ticket.

Held at the Morgan Hill Library at 660 W. Main Ave., Jan. 28-29, workshop presenters including Doug Gardner and Thomas Synder will introduce topics on Octo Puzzles and TomTom – a calcu-doku puzzle with clever themes and unique challenges. Crossword champ Jordan Chodorow will also present Saturday on the art of mastering difficult crossword puzzles.

Octo Puzzles is a new kind of math and logic puzzle with a presentation Saturday by the inventor himself. Gardner is a part-time puzzle inventor and security specialist for the Department of Defense.

The TomTom speaker Synder gained notice in the puzzle world by winning the U.S. and World Sudoku Championships. His Sudoku and TomTom puzzles will be featured in Sunday’s tournament as well.

Andrea Carla Michaels, a professional namer and puzzle constructor who has appeared on National Public Radio and has had puzzles published in the New York Times, will be at the weekend’s event as well.
