The Christopher High softball team kept its playoff aspirations alive with an 8-5 victory over Monterey Bay League opponenet North Monterey County on Thursday in Gilroy.

“It’s a good win,” manager Larry Nabzeska said. “We need to win all of them.”

The triumph pushes the Cougars to 13-9-1 overall and 6-3 in the MBL, putting them in third heading into the final streatch of three league tilts remaining.

The Cougars pounded out 10 hits, scoring runs in the first, second third, fourth and sixth innings.

“They hit the ball really solid,” Nabzeska said. “I was really pleased.”

Down 4-1 entering the third, Kayla Medrano delivered a two-RBI triple and was able to advance home on an error to knot the game at 4-all.

Olivia Barajas had an RBI single in the third, Kaslin Ettema chased home a run on a fielder’s choice ground out and both Mariah Martinez and Johnna Blank had run-producing singles.
