Jeff Garcia Football Camp comes to Valley Christian H.S.
SAN JOSE – The first annual Jeff Garcia Football Camp for Kids will be held on June 15 and 16 at Valley Christian High School.
The camp is open to all boys and girls between the ages of 9-13. Total cost per camper is $125 for both days.
The goal of the camp is to provide a truly unique football experience in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on detailed teaching for basic skills and fundamentals.
The experienced staff includes top local college and high school coaches as well as current and past NFL players. It is a full controlled, non-contact program.

Gavilan College sets up instructional softball clinic
GILROY – Gavilan College will be hosting its first annual instructional softball clinic Saturday, April 24 on its Gilroy campus.
The clinic is for girls ages 6-16. Session 1 is from 10 a.m. to noon and Session II is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants will receive hands-on instruction in hitting, bunting, throwing, catching, infield and outfield play, and base running.
The Gavilan College coaching staff will run the clinic, which has a $20 fee per session.

Boxer Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero to chat on-line to fans
GILROY – Undefeated professional boxer Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero will be chatting to fans from all over the world April 16 at 2 p.m. on www.boxingscene.com.
The Gilroy pugilist encourages his fans from Gilroy to support him in the chat room.
The flawless featherweight will be fighting on Fox Sports Net in the main event May 2 in Miami at the Miccasukee Resort. Guerrero, whose ultimate goal is to become the first champion born and raised in Gilroy, will then fight June 3 in Lincoln, Oregon on Showtime against southpaw Enrique Sanchez, of Mexico.
Pride of Morgan Hill Softball tryouts scheduled for May 3-4
MORGAN HILL – The Pride of Morgan Hill Girls Softball will be having tryouts for its 10, 12, 14 and 16 age group competitive teams on Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 at 4:30 pm at the San Martin School softball fields.
Pride of Morgan Hill is a competitive travel team, which participates in weekend tournaments during the summer. Most tournaments are fairly local.
Please arrive 15 minutes early and have a parent sign you in. Be ready to start at 4:30 p.m.

Basketball Jones Hoop Camps hit Morgan Hill in July
MORGAN HILL – The 9th Annual Basketball Jones Hoop Camps will be held July 5-9 at the Oakwood Country School, 105 John Wilson Way, Morgan Hill.
The camps runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is open to boys and girls ages 7-15. Camp fee is $180 per week and $160 if you sign up before May 15.

USYVL volleyball league springs up on April 22-June 12
MORGAN HILL – Registration is now being accepted for the USYVL’s Spring Season in Morgan Hill.
The USYVL season runs for eight weeks at Galvan and Paradise Parks, and will begin April 22 and end June 12.
The USYVL is an instructional volleyball league that operates in a coed format for boys and girls ages 8-14.

Coyote Creek Golf Club to host regional qualifier on May 19
SAN JOSE – On May 19, Coyote Creek Golf Club will be one of four locations used regional qualifiers for the 2004 Pechanga California State Open Golf Championship presented by the City of Murrieta.
The tournament will be placed at SCGA Golf Course in Murrieta, Sept. 1-4. Prize money is guaranteed at $125,000.
Open to all professional golfers and amateurs with a verifiable index of 4.4 or less, the top 15 finishers plus ties from the first four regional qualifiers automatically advance to the California State Open. Depending on availability (estimated 5 to 10 spots), the fifth regional qualifier in August will take the remaining spots. The entry fee for the regional qualifier is $75.
Each regional qualifier will follow an 18-hole stroke play format. Prize money for the first four regional qualifiers is as follows: $300 for first, $225 for second, $150 for third, $100 for fourth, and $75 for fifth.
