SEASON PREVIEW: Christopher High football

Expectations. Three years ago, head coach Tim Pierleoni gathered a bunch of bright-eyed freshmen and sophomores for a meeting at Brownell Middle School and laid out an extensive list of goals. The Christopher High football team's 2011 league championship season – in year three – may have taken everyone on the opposite sideline by surprise. But among the CHS players and coaching staff, it was exactly what was envisioned when the program opened in 2009.

Gilroy High fills a pair of coaching vacancies

It has been a busy six months on the coach-search front at Gilroy High School. Vacancies have popped up at a dandelion-like rate with coaches leaving posts for a variety of reasons. But with the fall season fast approaching, GHS filled two coaching voids, hiring Kassi Swalboski for girls varsity volleyball and Tim Jones for boys varsity basketball, athletic director Julie Berggren said Tuesday.
