TUESDAY ROUNDUP: CHS softball, baseball keep pace at top of league
Christopher High softball defeated Pajaro Valley 11-0 in five innings Tuesday in Gilroy. Angelica Carrillo and Kayla Medrano each had two hits and three RBIs, Olivia Barajas drove in two runs, Arianna Vasquez produced a pair of hits and five other Cougars had a hit in the win.
SOFTBALL: Balers baffle Mustangs, 2-0
How do you solve a problem like San Benito? The Gilroy High softball team has been baffled in finding an answer to that conundrum since March 21, 2006. And the Mustangs' quest will continue as the Balers again squeaked past GHS 2-0 on Tuesday in Gilroy.
GOLF: Cougars take second at Valley finals, win division title
With three Tri-County Athletic League meets to go, the objective at hand was as cut and dry as it gets for the Christopher High boys golf team.
TRACK: Low turnout but high effort at 42nd Avis Kelley
On March 31, Gilroy High sprinter Jourdan Soares won his 100-meter dash preliminary heat and was slotted into the finals as the No. 1-qualifier out of 39 participants in the field. Later that saturated Saturday morning, heavy rains and blustery winds interrupted the 42nd annual Avis Kelley Invitational – GHS's home meet that routinely attracts dozens of teams. And for the first time in its illustrious history, the meet had to be postponed.
THURSDAY ROUNDUP: CHS girls track finishes dual season 6-0
The Christopher High girls varsity track and field team completed a 6-0 Monterey Bay regular season record after victories over Seaside (94-32) and Monte Vista Christian (103-19) on Thursday at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.
