Taylor Slattery scored two goals to lead Gilroy High’s girls soccer team to a 2-1 Monterey Bay League victory at Watsonville on Wednesday.

Christopher High is located on Day Road in Gilroy, but the street sign that hangs outside the school might as well be a tribute.

Rafael “Bubu” Garcia won Gilroy High’s First Pitch home run derby Saturday with a blast over the left-field fence to edge Matt Hemeon in a swing-off after the two batters were tied at one homer apiece in the second round.

The Cougars baseball team kicked off Monterey Bay League-Gabilan competition with a 4-3 win over Palma at home Tuesday.

Christopher picked up its first win since Dec. 9 as it cruised past Monterey 3-1 at home Thursday. 

Aptos scored two goals in each half to come away with a 4-0 win at Gilroy Monday.
