Christopher's Shane Suttles, Evan Shapiro and Zach Fishler have helped lead the Cougars all season, while Gilroy's Zach Loo, Josiah Wiley, Chris Chang, Travis Moulden and Hector Perez did the same for the Mustangs. All were recognized for their efforts Saturday with postseason honors.

Sobrato established a three-score first-half advantage and held off host Christopher High 38-19 in front of a spirited crowd at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex on Friday night in Gilroy.

Despite falling in its final two matches, the Christopher volleyball team is in the playoffs.

GILROY—Cougar Brevin Zollinger was on point for Christopher during Tuesday’s crosstown game with Gilroy.

Before the season started, Anzar High senior Diego Avila believed he could become the second runner in as many years from the San Juan Bautista school to win an individual Central Coast Section title.

The Christopher boys soccer team completely dominated Monte Vista Christian, winning 7-0 Tuesday night.

SALINAS—Six Gilroyans earned their place on the 2015 Monterey Bay League Boys Volleyball All-League Teams.

SALINAS — Seven Gilroy-area ballers will get their chance to shine once more this season as they take the court for the 7th Annual North-South High School All-Star Basketball Classic Friday at the Boys and Girls Club in Salinas.
