GILROY—Over the last four years Tayler Silacci has been earning her stripes. The Gilroy High senior has spent countless mornings getting up before sunrise and has travelled across the country attending camps and tournaments all to earn a field hockey scholarship.

EUREKA—Gavilan was 40 seconds away from ending the season with a ‘W’ in Eureka, but the College of the Redwoods squad had other plans. With just three seconds left, the Corsairs’ John Tanner Westby kicked a 40-yard field goal to tie the game at 35-all and send it into overtime.

Prep Football: Cougars win 4th straight Severance Bowl

GILROY—Christopher’s Matt Adamkiewicz was one of the first players to reach the Severance Bell and he let it ring for all of Gilroy to hear. The junior QB led his team to it’s fourth straight Severance Bowl victory, reaching the endzone six times both in the air and on the ground en route to a 48-10 win over the Mustangs Friday at Gilroy High.

GILROY—Anyone who has seen Katrina Carter play field hockey had no doubts she’d continue her career in college. But if you would’ve asked Carter if she thought she’d get to this level eight years ago, she probably would’ve laughed at the thought.
