Gabe Katich pitched eight strong innings, Alika Bantilan drove in two runs, and Gavilan College’s baseball team held on for a 6-3 home win over Skyline on Thursday.

Heather Johnson, Kayla Medrano and Kari Bittle drove in three runs each to lead Gavilan College’s softball team to a 15-7 home win over the City College of San Francisco on Tuesday.

Pat Valdez had two hits, and Robert Driscal doubled and drove in a run, but Christopher High’s baseball team suffered a 4-1 loss to Wilcox to open the Valley Christian tourney Monday.

Christopher High sophomore Allison Foster won the varsity girls 300-meter hurdles in 48.02 seconds and placed in three other events during the Avis Kelley Invitational on Saturday at Gilroy High.

Allison Foster is an explosive leaper in volleyball and basketball. The Christopher High outside hitter and forward would be one of the most accomplished athletes in the school even if she limited herself to two sports.

Winning pitcher Nathan Bonsell threw six innings without allowing an earned run to help Christopher High’s baseball team to a 3-1 victory over El Dorado of Placerville on Wednesday at Gavilan College.

Christopher High’s boys tennis team picked up two points at both singles and doubles on its way to a 4-3 win over Monte Vista Christian on Wednesday.

Jesse Delgado had already accomplished more than most of his peers dream of. The former Gilroy High wrestler won a California Interscholastic Federation state title for the Mustangs in 2009, and he went on to earn All-America honors as a college freshman at Illinois.
