GILROY—The Cougars have been dealt several inconsistencies this season. About to make the turn into the second half of Coast Conference South play, Gavilan College women's volleyball coach Kevin Kramer sensed his team required a shake up. It's not as though the Rams, who are currently in a three-way tie for first place - haven't performed. But like an iPod playlist that keeps repeating the same songs, Kramer knew hitting the shuffle button would excite everyone.

Santa Cruz – A little offense, a little luck and lots of good pitching and defense helped the Gilroy Americans send home Capitola-Soquel from the District 39 11-year-olds All-Star Tournament by a score of 7-3 Wednesday night in Santa Cruz.

The Gavilan women's team picked up its first win of the young season, beating Reedley 77-74 at home Wednesday.
