Local prep teams set for start of league action
Most of the area’s soccer, basketball and wrestling teams either begin, or jump back into league contests this week. Here is what’s on tap:
BASKETBALL: CHS girls to host Los Gatos in CCS first round
The Monterey Bay League champion Christopher High girls basketball team was placed into the Division II bracket and will host Los Gatos in the first round of the Central Coast Section playoffs Tuesday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
Soccer Roundup: Christopher, Gilroy boys lose
Hibsen Tamayo scored, but Christopher High’s boys soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to visiting North Salinas on Monday.
FOOTBALL: Gilroy High hires new head coach
Gilroy High has hired Brian Boyd as head football coach, athletic director Julie Berggren announced Thursday.
