Gilroy – Gilroy Bowl is hosting its annual Garlic Doubles Tournament every weekend in July and through Aug. 6-7. Squad times are: Saturdays – 1, 3:30 and 6pm; Sundays – 4:30 and 7pm.

Gilroy – The Garlic Tennis Tournament, named "Tournament of the Year" by the USTA last year, returns this weekend on July 9-11 with play taking place at three locations around Gilroy. Players will compete at Las Animas Park, Gilroy High School and Gavilan College, with Las Animas Park being the main site for the finals.

Giacalone trip to NASCAR race is electrical

The Giacalone Electrical Services family had a special reason to attend the Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma's Infineon Speedway on June 26 – the Gilroy company had its logo emblazoned on the No. 17 DeWalt Power Tools Ford driven by Matt Kenseth. The Giacolones enjoyed the fruits of their sponsorship, a day of hanging out with the stars of NASCAR in pit lane. Kenseth finished 11th in the race, which was won by Tony Stewart in the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet.
