St. Louise Regional Hospital is saying goodbye its president and CEO next month.
Joanne Allen, five-year president and CEO of St. Louise, will be stepping into a new position as CEO of Seton Medical Center in Daly City and Seton Coastside in Moss Beach.
Saint Louise’s current Chief Operating Officer, Carol Furgurson, will take over as interim CEO April 15.
During Allen’s tenure at Saint Louise, she “improved medical staff, associate and community relationships and led the development of regional strategy for two medical campuses in the South Bay,” announced a March 25 press release from Daughters of Charity Health System, the Catholic organization and management umbrella under which St. Louise operates.
“I am honored to be chosen for this new leadership role, and I look forward to working with the associates and physicians at Seton to position ourselves as a valued community partner in providing exceptional, person-centered care,” Allen said.
Carol Furgurson has served in her current position at Saint Louise for five years. Prior, she held executive positions at O’Connor hospital in San Jose. Furgurson has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Toledo in Ohio. She later received a master’s degree in health administration from Commonwealth University in Virginia.
Patricia Smith, spokeswoman for Daughters of Charity said she did not know if Furgurson is being considered for a permanent CEO position at the hospital. But she did say that whatever the case, the transition will be smooth sailing.
“Carol has been in a leadership position there for awhile and she is definitely the person to handle the job, that is why we picked her,” Smith said.
Smith said she did not know about details of the hospital’s search for a permanent CEO or anything about Furgurson’s or Allen’s salary.
