Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill Gymnastics girls’ competitive team started its season off with a bang on Sunday when the girls from Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Martin traveled to San Bruno to compete in the August Heat meet.
Of the top 10 highest all-around scores at the meet for all competing levels and age groups, four of the top scores were earned by Morgan Hill gymnasts. They were Rachel Hart (1st), Jordan Fedalizo (3rd), Amanda Suniga (5th) and Whitney Clement (10th).
The Morgan Hill Gymnastics Club (MHGC) Level 5 team sees the return of veteran Suniga (11) who is back for another season after a six-month hiatus. Also at the Level 5’s are Fedalizo (10) and newcomer Clement (10) who joins MHGC after leaving her former gym. Last season, all three girls qualified for the Zone Championships, and Suniga and Clement both went on to compete at the State Level.
New additions to the Level 5 squad are Caitie Shannon (9) and Pooja Chirala (10), both of whom competed at Level 4 last year.
This year’s Level 4 team consists of Rachel Hart (9) who is back for another season, while teammates Maddie Miller (8), Karissa Fisher (9), Sarah Langerman (9), Karina Daniels (10) and Sarah Aulman (10) will all compete for the first time later this month.
The team gets a three week break before heading to Santa Cruz for the Begonia Fest on September 24th.
