On Dec. 19, Veterans of Foreign Wars will host stroke risk screenings in Gilroy.Â
Stroke is the third leading cause of death, and VFW claims that an ultrasound can detect how prone to a stroke an individual is, thus reducing risk.
Screening packages start at $149 and can also identify potential cardiovascular conditions such as blocked arteries or irregular heart rhythm. A bone density screening to identify osteoporosis is also offered.Â
The screening site is located at 74 West Sixth Street in Gilroy. The screening packages take 60 to 90 minutes to complete. For more information call (877) 237-1287 or visit the website at www.lifelinescreening.com. Preregistration is required.Â
