Gilroy's Nikko Villarreal eyes his opponent, Archbishop Riordan's Elijah Davis, after winning their 138-pound Central Coast Section Championship finals match 3-2 in triple overtime Saturday night at Independence High School in San Jose.

Each month, the principals of Gilroy and Christopher high schools choose a total of four students (two from GHS and two from CHS) to spotlight. GHS junior Nikko Villareal, 16, is this week’s Student of the Week.

What inspires you?

My parents.

What is your favorite subject in school, and why?

I don’t have one, but I like hanging out with my friends.

If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?

I would like to keep wrestling in the Olympics.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

France, because it looks like a nice place and I heard they have great fries there.

Name one big challenge in your life right now:

Balancing academics with a demanding competition schedule.

What is your dream job?

To own a doughnut shop, because I love to eat doughnuts.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without?

Doughnuts, my cell phone and iPod.

Favorite book:

The book by Arizona State wrestling Star Anthony Robles who won the national title and has just one leg.

What are your plans post high school?

Go to a Division 1 wrestling school.

Something that makes you smile:

I like to make my family proud with successes on and off the mat.
