Dear Editor,

Gilroy Unified School District parents and administrators, we need your help? We need parents to re-teach manners and social skills and reinforce these skills, such as picking up their garbage after lunch.

A majority of students who attend Gilroy Unified Schools are disrespectful and trash their school campuses.

We encourage you to visit and observe the aftermath and disrespect of lunchtime. The students leave a variety of food items such as, spilled food, leftovers, gum, wrappers, nachos, pizza, bottles trashing the area. It looks like a hurricane came through.

The students expect the limited custodial staff to pick up after them. The custodial staff’s job is primarily maintenance and other related campus improvements. They should not be spending time picking up after your son or daughter at lunch.

Please explain to your son or daughter and other students, that it is their responsibility to take pride and care of their schools. Our tax dollars should not be spent on custodial staff cleaning up after the students who attend our schools.
