Dear Editor,

We have served dinner at the Emergency Homeless Shelter at the armory once a week for about five years. When the guests arrive, they have a hot shower, snacks and a dinner, and have a clean and safe place to sleep with warm blankets.

Because of the generosity of this community, there is usually a good selection of good used and new clothing, that is theirs for the taking. There are books to take with them and there is a choice to read a book or join the others in watching television. It is so refreshing to hear a group laughing at something on the television sets, this gives them a sense of normalcy, much like the rest of us.

So, in our opinion, the gift of the TV set from the group at The Alter Ego has been a blessing. And, for those that prefer the more practical gift, there is always a need for socks, toiletries and clothing.
