Gilroy – The Latino Family Fund de Gilroy is hosting a tequila tasting Sept. 15 from 3 to 7pm to raise money for its account with the Gilroy Foundation. The event will feature Mexican hors d’oeuvres, Mexican music and a silent auction, all in the friendly atmosphere of the home of the Rosso family, one of the fund’s founding members, at 7810 Oak Spring Circle. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple, and must be reserved by Sept. 5. Money from the fund has been used in the past for scholarships.

PCAG Meeting Canceled

San Martin – The Perchlorate Community Advisory Group meeting scheduled for 7pm tonight has been canceled. The Regional Water Board is still working on the draft Cleanup Order that won’t be available in time for the meeting.

The next PCAG meeting is scheduled for 2 to 4pm, Friday, Oct. 5.

BBQ Bash to Raise Funds

Gilroy – The Gilroy office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage will host a BBQ Bash Aug. 30 to benefit the Silicon Valley chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

The event will feature a barbecue food fare and raffle with proceeds going to the local Habitat organization. The event is being held at the office’s location at 7789 Wren Ave., beginning at noon. The price is $10 for adults, which includes a tri-tip/chicken lunch, and $5 for kids younger than 13, which includes a hot dog lunch.

Find a New Buddy at Pet Fair

Morgan Hill – The Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter needs help to find loving families for the many homeless companion animals currently at the shelter and in foster homes.

Visit the pet fair from noon to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday at Petco-Morgan Hill, where many wonderful companion animals will be featured. Stop by to find a new furry friend; make a donation to help cover spay/neuter, food, and litter expenses; find out how to become a foster parent; get more information on adopting barncats; or sign-up to volunteer.

Be Gilroy’s Biggest Loser

Gilroy – Saint Louise Regional Hospital will team up with Gilroy Health and Fitness to bring “Biggest Loser” Challenge to Gilroy. Gilroy Health and Fitness and Saint Louise Regional Hospital will award top community “losers” in the local “Biggest Loser” Challenge by sending them on a mini-vacation along with other prizes.

The “Biggest Loser” Gilroy Challenge begins Sept. 12. The community is encouraged to attend bi-weekly public weigh-ins at Gilroy Health and Fitness located on 8540 Church St.
