Dear Editor:

As a local teacher and youth leader, voting “no” on last spring’s school bond Measure D was a difficult decision. However, after carefully studying Measure I, I feel that this new bond issue is an honest effort by the superintendent and school board to provide long-term solutions in providing adequate district facilities. I also feel that there is an acceptable level of over-site and accountability.

Any property tax hike is difficult. However, Measure I is a solid, well thought out solution to our crumbling, overcrowded schools.

If you voted no on Measure D like I did, I urge you to consider voting “yes” on Measure I.

Our community and our children deserve its benefits.
