Three people were arrested for possession of stolen property Sunday morning after police found iPods, cell phones and other swiped items in their vehicle.

The Gilroy Police Department arrested Pavlo Torres, 27, Desiree Guerra, 29, and Roberto Torres, 26, after witnesses told police they saw suspects walking away from a vehicle with its alarm sounding.

A witness told police they saw the suspects flee the area toward Gavilan Community College in a light blue Honda vehicle and provided officers with a license plate number and suspect description, according to the GPD.

Officers spotted Roberto Torres and Guerra soon after, detained them and determined they were under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police then located the unoccupied Honda in the college’s parking lot and discovered multiple iPods, cell phones, a laptop computer and other personal items with different identifying names on them. The items were determined to be stolen property from unreported vehicle burglaries earlier that morning, according to the GPD.

Officers then learned of a male dressed all in black hiding in bushes near the south end of the campus. At that time, campus security notified police of a “suspicious subject” on campus, according to the GPD.

Police found Pavlo Torres in the western hills area of the campus after they recognized him from witness descriptions. Officers determined he was linked to the suspect vehicle.

All three were arrested and booked on suspicion of stolen property. Roberto Torres and Guerra also were booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

Anyone who was a victim or has possible information regarding this crime can contact the GPD at 846-0350.
