Gilroy – Pizza N’ Stuff stopped the Money Makers 60-45 Tuesday to finish in a three-team tie for first place for the second-half Men’s D League adult basketball title.
Pizza N’ Stuff will play Anritsu at 7pm on Monday Feb. 19 at Solorsano Gymnasium. The winner of that game will face George Chiala Farms Inc. for the second-half championship.
Charles Perales struck for 24 points to ignite the Pizza N’ Stuff offense. Juan Rios and Mark Cisneros each popped in 10 points for the defending league champion. Daryl Baladad scored 15 points, Steve Huerta 12 for the Money Makers, the first-half league kingpin.
Anritsu (4-2) earned a tie-breaker spot by defeating Morgan Hill Garage Door 60-56.
Vince Mitre scored 14 of his team-high 20 points in the second half as Anritsu erased a 30-25 intermission deficit.
Mitch Pierce tossed in 14 points, Kurt Simmons 11 for the winners. Jacob Garcia anchored the Morgan Hill Garage Door offense with 27 points. Sig Reynisson contributed 13 Door points.
George Chiala Farms turned back Headstart 60-35 to also reach 4-2. The first-half DD champion used six three-point field goals from Brandon Greene, who finished with 25 points. Michael Bright aided the Farmer cause with 11 points. Greg Bozzo posted 12 points, Rick Tersini 10 for Headstart.
Valerie Smith Intero heads into next week’s DD League Championship Series on a losing note after a 58-55 setback Wednesday against the Tri-County Warriors.
Intero, 4-2, earned the second-half title after 3-3 Handmade Healthcare forfeited a game to the Titans.
Jerrell Morales hustled to 20 points and Christian Rivera added 14 for the Warriors. David Fauss poured in 22 points and Kevin Steele added 18 for Valerie Smith Intero.
