Three Salinas teenagers were arrested in Morgan Hill for beating up a woman they believed met their father for an illicit rendezvous, police said.
An employee at the Ramada hotel at 16115 Condit Road, called police to report a fight about 10:30 p.m. Friday. Police determined the fight began on the side of the road near Tennant Avenue and U.S. 101, and spilled into the Ramada when the female adult victim fled there to seek help, according to Morgan Hill Police Cmdr. Joe Sampson.
The three siblings were traveling with their mother, who was driving, on U.S. 101 when they pulled up behind a tow truck being driven by their father. When the father noticed the vehicle containing his brood behind him, he pulled over at Tennant Avenue and U.S. 101.
The car containing the three juveniles and their mother stopped behind him. The three teenagers ran to the passenger’s side of the truck and attacked the passenger, a 36-year-old Salinas woman the teens suspected of having an affair with their father, Sampson said.
“Apparently the dad and mom were separated,” he said. “The kids were upset that their dad was with this other woman.”
The teens smashed the vehicle’s window and pulled the woman, identified as Rosario Aguilar, out of the truck by her hair and began to punch and kick her in the upper body and legs. Aguilar ran to the nearby Ramada and the teens chased her while continuing to yell at the victim and call her names.
Hotel staff attempted to protect the woman by locking her in the front office, but one of the attackers, a 15-year-old male, jumped over the counter and beat the woman until police arrived, Sampson said.
The three teenagers, who included a 16-year-old female and a 15-year-old female, were arrested on suspicion of battery.
The victim was transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital with injuries that included bruises throughout her body, Sampson said.
