GILROY – The Tomcats needed five innings to power past Westwood Barbers 18-3 in a battle of Men’s Winter BB League softball teams Wednesday at Las Animas Park.
Richie Rodriquez and Mike Nichols hit consecutive home runs in a seven-run third inning for the Tomcats (5-0). Steve Pacheco and Mike Olguin added round-trippers. Rodney Sakai and Ruben Ramirez each went 4-for-4, Marco Lopez 3-fof-3 for the winners. Gabe Hernandez hit a two-run hommer for the 4-1 Barbers.
Obata Farms moved into fourth place in the seven-team league with a 7-6 squeaker past Bike Center-DataMate Accounting. Jason Livingston homered in the Obata fifth. Robert Silvia followed with a double, scoring on a Jade Garcia sacrifice fly to complete the Farmer scoring. Dave Meacham went 4-for-4 for the Bikers.
Joey Barnes hit a three-run home run and Matt Leslie went 4-for-4 to key a 13-6 Enforcers decision over Deez Nutz. Chase Locsin went 3-for-3 as the Enforcers moved to 3-2 in third place. Gabe Villegas went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, while Ed Gamboa homered for Deez Nutz.
Goldsmith Seeds needed one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to outlast Don’s Vending 3-2 in Women’s Winter League play at Gavilan Sports Park.
Kathy White scored on a two-out single by Emily Hernandez in the Seeds seventh, leaving Goldsmith alone atop the eight-team league with a 5-0 record. Don’s Vending slipped to fifth at 2-3.
Yolanda Lomas scored two Goldsmith runs. Missy Howe singled and doubled for the winners. Liz Adams singled and doubled for the Vendors.
Marks Tractor is 4-1 in second place with a 17-3 nod over Chilicas. Barb Lemberger went 5-for-5 and mother-in-law Pauline Lemberger went 4-for-5 with five RBI for the Tractors. Yvonne Gaspar went 3-for-3 for Chilicas.
Missy Hice pounded a grand slam, two doubles and a single, producing seven runs, as 3-2 M&M’s topped Michael’s Mufflers 23-2. Karen Turnland added three doubles and scored four M&M’s runs. Sophia Gause hit an RBI-triple for the Mufflers.
Brandy Davis and Valerie Logan each went 3-for-3 as Dutchman’s Pizza defeated M. Rizzo Landscaping 16-2.
Jeanne Ramos drove in four runs for 3-2 Dutchman’s. Sandi Liberatore went 3-for-4, Debbie Ruiz 2-for-2 for M. Rizzo.
