Rawlings homers in 6-5 comeback victory
GILROY – Campbell’s Towing edged past Claddagh’s Brew Crew 6-5 Thursday to remain unbeaten atop the Men’s E League softball standings at Gavilan Sports Park.

The Towers struck for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a 3-3 tie. Campbell’s takes a 5-0 mark into Thursday’s finale against 2-3 Team Heinzen.

Campbell’s grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Jess Rawlings single. Claddagh’s battled back with two runs in the second on sacrifice flies from Parker Hathaway and Lee Liberatore. The Brew Crew held a 3-2 lead in the fourth when Danny Russo doubled and scored on an infield out.

Rawlings homered to pull Campbell’s even in the fourth, then ignited a three-run sixth with a run-scoring single. Roger McCauley capped the Campbell’s scoring with an RBI-triple.

St. Mary Men’s Club is 4-1 in second place after defeating the Titans 14-10.

The Titans built a 10-8 lead after five before St. Mary Men’s Club tied the score with a two-run sixth. Terry Smith lined a run-scoring double to left-center. Bob Filice scored the equalizer on an infield error.

Chris Wheat’s sacrifice fly opened a four-run seventh for St. Mary. Al Garcia clubbed a two-run triple and scored on a Filice single.

Shawn Chizanskas went 3-for-4 for the winners, Vic Vanni 4-for-5 for the Titans.

Jim Watkins and Johnny Torrecillas each drove in two runs to lead Team Heinzen past Solid Ground 11-7. Spencer Straub, Mark Logan and Nathan Galdos each secured three hits for Team Heinzen. Walter Roa and Joey Costa provided three hits each for Solid Ground.

Blackout Window Tinting moved to 5-0 in Men’s EE League play Thursday with a 10-8 decision over the Bay Area Communications Loco Boys.

A Kyle Kretz RBI-double in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Loco Boys an 8-5 lead. Blackout trailed 8-6 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, then took the lead on triples by Chris Velador and Frank Duran.

Gabe Corral homered and Anthony Corral and Fidel Vargas each delivered three singles for Blackout. Kurtis Salter went 3-for-4 for the Loco Boys.

VFW Bingo is second at 4-1 with an 18-11 victory over Radiator Doctor.

Todd Barreras hit a two-run double to aid a seven-run first inning for VFW Bingo. Gabe Perez went 4-for-4, Greg Flippo 4-for-5 for the winners. John Andrade scored three Radiator Doctor runs.

Rich Wist hit two home runs and Jeff Ide went 3-for-3 and scored three runs as Courtesy Chevrolet topped the Good Ole Boys 19-4. Paul Iwanaga and Bob Schoeneman each drilled two Good Ole Boy hits.
