A northbound Caltrain train hit and injured a woman driving across the tracks at a San Jose crossing this morning, according to officials.

The train and car struck at 6:50 a.m. as the woman was driving across a private crossing with no gates, said Christine Dunn, Caltrain spokeswoman.

She was taken to San Jose Regional hospital, said Dunn. The passengers from the train and the two following trains in Gilroy were picked up by a bus set up by VTA and taken to the San Jose Diridon station.

Trains were back on schedule by 8:30 a.m., Dunn said.
