Well, I was going to write a Grinch column and complain about all the pins and fasteners in men’s dress shirts, the cyclists wearing invisible king’s crowns who ride three and four abreast in the roadway and sneer if you honk after waiting for a couple of minutes, or those who fumble at the grocery checkout counter pulling out one coin at a time to get the exact change while six people are in line ... but enough, I’m not really in the mood and that’s a good thing.
Sharks rally for shootout win over Avalanche, 5-4
SAN JOSE – San Jose forced overtime with a goal in the closing seconds, then produced a 2-0 win in the shootout to finish the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule, outlasting the visiting Colorado Avalanche 5-4.
County asks voters to increase sales tax to fund services
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors passed the second and final reading of an ordinance that will ask voters to increase the sales tax by one-eighth cent in November, increasing the local tax rate from 8.375 percent to 8.5 percent. The board voted 4-0 Tuesday, with South County’s Supervisor Mike Wasserman absent.
