Affordable wines to start New Year off right
January is the month where my jeans and finances are both a little tight. Too much spinach dip, Christmas cookies and fudge combined with the joys of gift-giving have put me back on a diet and looking for creative ways to save money - especially on wine.

New Year’s organizing sidetracked by margarita machine
It started last summer. I began to get the tiniest inkling that perhaps I was not as organized a person as I thought I was when my sister opened up the guest bath cabinet and said, “You know you fold your towels wrong, don't you?”

Monterey County: Wine country with a gentle attitude
When one thinks of Monterey – Cannery Row, The Monterey Bay Aquarium, Steinbeck, Big Sur and Pebble Beach are the mental pictures that flash in the mind, unless you are a wine lover. Surprise! It’s the usual stuff: Work out three times a week, cut back on coffee and alcohol, floss daily, relearn Spanish, watch less television, etc. I then put the list in the drawer of my bedside table, where it remains until I take it out a year later and laugh at my lack of progress.
Resumes aren’t dead yet, but …
Resumes may not be dead yet, but they are absolutely evolving – and not just moving from printed paper to digital copies. While some businesses still rely on traditional resumes in the hiring process, many are seeking a more complete picture of their future employees and turn to social media sites to learn more about potential hires.
