Gilroy residents Ed and Collette Rolls were surprised to wake up early Jan. 13 on Collette's 65th birthday to find their yard full of fake pigs. The display was still there when they went to bed at 10pm but was gone by the time they started their day the following morning at 4:30am. At first the couple didn't know who put them there, but they later found out her family in Illinois were the culprits. The family found the provider, based in Oakland, by searching online for interesting gift ideas.

It is truly a red letter day for one local band. Since releasing its first CD in the middle of December, Red Letter Days, made up of musicians from Gilroy and Morgan Hill, has been turning heads with its melodic rock tunes.

Cheese in Gilroy, and the recording said they were opening on Tuesday (Dec. 28). Then, in a story in the Dispatch, it was mentioned that the grand opening was on Thursday the 30th. So I took my family, in the rain, over there on Thursday, only to be told that they would be open on Saturday the 1st.
