Police are investigating a Wednesday night stabbing and robbery in a Gilroy park that left two victims with stab wounds, including a 19-year-old man who was transported to a Bay Area trauma hospital for his injuries, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
At least five suspects are believed to be involved, and the incident is classified as gang related, said GPD Sgt. Chad Gallacinao.
A second man, 39, was also stabbed by the suspects but did not require medical attention. Both victims are Gilroy residents, Gallacinao said.
The condition of the 19-year-old victim was not immediately known. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the victims, Gallacinao said.
The altercation occurred around 7:30 p.m. in San Ysirdo Park at Lewis Street and Murray Avenue, according to the GPD.
Information regarding the suspects is being withheld as the GPD actively investigates the incident and continues to follow leads, Gallacinao said.
