A busy three-match week began on the right track, and a mild hiccup in Game 2 didn’t shake up the Christopher High girls varsity volleyball team in its victory over host Alvarez (25-20, 19-25, 25-22, 25-19) in nonleague action Tuesday night in Salinas.

Seniors Merrett Brown and Aly Olvera, and Sophomore Cheyenne DeLamerced, combined for 37 kills, validating a successful outing from setter Alex Gerberick.

Head coach Tom Schatz also credited sophomore Michelle Toves and freshman Dejah Raoof with strong defensive efforts.

The Cougars (2-5), who competed in the Milpitas Spikefest over the weekend, finishing 1-3, play twice more this week, including a home date with St. Francis C.C.C tonight at 6:30. CHS concludes the week at home Thursday at 6:30 p.m. against Stevenson.
