The Gilroy Welcome Center is working to develop insight on what brings visitors to the Garlic Capital, especially during one of the busiest times of year for local retailers. Next week, Welcome Center staff will begin surveying visitors in hopes of collecting more than 500 responses by mid-December, according to Welcome Center Executive Director Jane Howard.
“We need to know who is coming and why,” Howard said. “We’re doing it over a 30-day period just because it’s a busy time and it helps us get ready for our planning session in January.”
The Welcome Center’s last strategic plan—a game plan for attracting tourists and promoting Gilroy based on visitor data—went in place nearly three years ago, she said.
“Our board is ready to review what has been successful in terms of tactics and strategies—and what’s next,” Howard added.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the survey effort can contact Welcome Center Manager Pam Jimenez at (408) 842-6436.
