Fashion knows no gender, no age, no boundaries and no limits. Maybe the best thing about fashion is how unconventional and diverse it can be. While a fitted dress is one person’s cup of tea, an oversized T-shirt may be someone else’s.
Georgia Wahl, 15, is the epitome of Manhattan sophistication and class. Her fashion inspiration comes from the hit TV show Gossip Girl. The show follows the life of young socialites living in the Upper East Side, one them being Blair Waldorf. Blair’s combination of refined elegance and childish flair is a look that Wahl strives for. The best store for this is Banana Republic. It houses a “good amount of sleek and fancy clothing, which is still wearable on a daily basis,” Wahl says.
Like many fashionistas, Wahl uses clothing to express herself.
“Since my hair is short, I like to dress more feminine to give off more of a girly look. Likewise, dressing sophisticated makes me truly feel like myself.”
Simran Sihra, 15, sports a unique style. Wearing XL men’s tees as dresses is one of her many edgy fashion statements. Her style icon, Tyler the Creator is part of the widely popular hip-hop group, Odd Future. He designs apparel that features eccentric images, from pink donuts to tacos.
“What I like about his clothing line is that his clothes have character. His style stands out, and that’s what I go for.”
Zumiez, her favorite store, stocks Odd Future apparel and other clothing she likes. “I could buy the whole store, honestly,” she says.
