DEAR EDITOR:
What bit Mr. Thompson to get such a rabid response to your article on the proposed railroad museum? Much of the cost of developing this museum comes from donations of money and labor from various organizations and individuals. There is a dedicated core of individuals that have donated a considerable number of hours in restoring the railroad equipment and maintaining the current sight. Once the museum is built, it is believed that the museum will generate sufficient funds to maintain itself so where does Mr. Thompson get the idea that it will be a bottomless money pit?
I personally believe that the museum would be a great asset to Gilroy as the railroad museum would teach children and adults the vital roll that the railroads played in the growth of Santa Clara Valley and Gilroy. It would be located next to the Gilroy train station that was recently renovated and the two sites would compliment each other nicely.
