Kathy Rene Salvador, 46, had all the fixings for a bountiful backyard barbecue – tri-tip, ribeye and New York strip steaks along with about $500 worth of other groceries – but instead of paying for all the loot, she walked out, said Gilroy Police Sgt. Chad Gallacinao. She did, however, pay for a soda and a pack of cigarettes before leaving, Gallacinao said.

About 3:50 p.m. Sept. 1, Salvador had placed the items into several black and blue reusable shopping bags and store loss-prevention officers watched as she bypassed a front register. She was arrested and charged with grand theft, Gallacinao said.
