DEAR EDITOR:

I read another letter to the editor about our Gilroy school system test results. This time the results showed teachers the students grade level in different subjects. The teachers would know which kids were behind and could plan their courses accordingly.

I might be missing the obvious but if a student is entering the 9th grade and is at the 5th grade level in math, HOW DID THE STUDENT GET PROMOTEd TO THE 6TH GRADE?

I think that all tests results should also list the schools and teachers that instructed the pupils from day one even if that information is kept “in house.”

Talking forever about how to fix a problem, if you don’t know where the problem really lies, is not going to work – or maybe the people in charge really do have all the information required and just do not want to do what it is going to take to fix it. I guess that is the way things work if you continue to get paid whether the goal is accomplished quickly, slowly or not at all.
