national championships
Gilroy – Gilroy Hawk wrestler Jesse Delgado won the Schoolboy 100-pound division title at the USA Wrestling ASICS Kids/Cadet Folkstyle National Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa. last weekend, the third national title of his young wrestling career

To get into the championship, Delgado beat another New York opponent, Tyler Lusht, by a convincing 15-2 decision in the semifinals.
Next year, Delgado will wrestle at Gilroy High alongside another Schoolboy national champion, Hunter Collins. Now-sophomore Collins was a national champion as a Gilroy Hawk two years ago.
“Jesse has been training real hard and we can’t wait for him to join our high school team next year,” said Gilroy High assistant wrestling coach Mike Koester.
