teams transition up in age level, the Gilroy Chaos 10U tested the
waters at a 12U NSA tournament last weekend in Fremont, passing the
challenge with flying colors.
At this time of the season in softball travel ball when many teams transition up in age level, the Gilroy Chaos 10U tested the waters at a 12U NSA tournament last weekend in Fremont, passing the challenge with flying colors.
With the assistance of Anna Gamboa and Nikki Villanueva, seasoned Chaos 12U players, the Chaos Blue found themselves in the Gold Championship game where they took on the Lady Dogs.
As the transitional Chaos team stepped onto the field it looked obvious to everyone watching that they were the younger, less seasoned team. However, with excitement, determination, relentless defense, persistent offense and incredible pitching, combined with unyielding attitude, the Chaos came out on top with a score of 6-4.
The Chaos endured a four-game day of pool play on Saturday. The Chaos beat the Real Renegades 11-6, tied the All American Sports Academy 3 -3, beat the East County Hot Shots 11-6, and lost to the Concord Glory 15-11. The 2-1-1 record left the Chaos with the No. 4-seed heading into Sunday’s action.
On Sunday, the Chaos started the day by beating the Morgan Hill Spirit 7-1 and the All American Sports Academy 7 -3, which gave them the opportunity to play in the Gold Championship game against the Lady Dogs.
This marked the team’s first championship win in the 12U division and qualified them for the All- Stars being held in July of 2011.
