Morgan Hill – Many northbound commuters on U.S. 101 were late for work Wednesday morning when a pickup overturned after clipping the back of a big rig just north of the Tennant Avenue overcrossing, slowing traffic to a crawl for almost two hours.
The accident occurred at 5:45am when the pickup, driven by Marvin W. Pack, 36, of Madera, clipped the rear of the big rig driven by Randall L. Myers, 48, of Tulare, CHP Officer Chris Gallego said. The two right lanes of traffic were blocked by Pack’s truck – which came to rest on its top – until 7:21am.
The backup on 101, which extended south to Leavesley Road, resulted in many drivers using Monterey Road, which backed up to San Martin Avenue.
Pack, who was seat-belted, suffered cuts and bruises. He was treated and released from Saint Louise Regional Hospital.
Pack reported blacking out as he was moving into the middle lane, Gallego said.
