There are many Great families in Gilroy that have contributed a
lot to benefit our beautiful city. One of these Great families is
the Christopher family.

There are many Great families in Gilroy that have contributed a lot to benefit our beautiful city. One of these Great families is the Christopher family. They have donated money for our upcoming arts and cultural center. They have also donated land for our future Christopher High School. Most importantly, they have promoted Gilroy throughout the world with their great garlic products. There is also the Great Goldsmith family. They have also donated money and beautiful flowers, not only to the city of Gilroy, but to the local charity groups with their annual flower sale.
However, the Filice family, the most influential and wealthy family in Gilroy, deserves a giant G, not for Great, but for GREEDY. I can’t believe the audacity of the Filice family to ask the cash-strapped Gilroy Unified School District, for almost five times the amount they purchased the same land from the district three years ago.
This Filice family, that the city graciously approved one of the largest residential developments in our history, is asking for more than $14 million for a piece of land valued at only $3 million three years ago. Come on Filice family. Be a good citizen this time around and donate the land. You blew a great opportunity when you guys could have donated the ranch side of Christmas Hill Park to the city, but instead you charged them, I believe $5 million. This is your chance to prove the citizens of Gilroy and I that you are not GREEDY. Filice family and Glen Loma Group change that G from Greedy to Great.
